LACOKA MIDGET SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

Lacoka Female Hockey is great roots hockey program giving young ladies the opportunity to lace up their skates, whether for the first time or a full-time passion!  Hockey is fun, safe, focused on fair play and fantastic exercise, and it's a great way to make new and life-long friends.  With this in mind we would like to fund a scholarship fund for up to two $500.00 scholarships annually for graduating midget players who are enrolling in post secondary education.  We have $3000.00 in seed money donated by the current midget group representing the balance of money from the Provincial Tournament in Lacombe 2015.  The scholarship to be sustained  will have to be funded through donations from Lacoka hosted tournaments or from other fundraising activities from within the group.

RULES AND GUIDLINES FOR MIDGET SCHOLARSHIP

1. The scholarship will be awarded based on an essay submitted by the player outlining academic achievement, hockey dedication/commitment and community involvement

1.1 All Lacoka Midget aged players are eligible to apply for a scholarship, however, all applicants:

a) Should be in their High School graduating year.

b) Must have demonstrated satisfactory attitude and effort in high school subjects as confirmed by a letter of reference from a teacher

c) Overall ability in hockey, specifically in respect to sportsmanship, team play, attitude and  dedication to the game as confirmed by a letter of reference from a  Lacoka Coach

d) A reference from a community member detailing the applicant's community involvement from a volunteer perspective

2. A letter of acceptance from an accredited post secondary institution is required from each applicant before a final decision is made.  Scholarships will be awarded at the spring AGM.  Information about the scholarship, application and deadlines will be found on the PMHA website.
